Phragmites

Over the past few years we have started producing Phragmites australis (common reed) for local projects requiring plants to create reed beds.

Reed beds have the ability to remove pollutants from water and can be used for small scale sewerage treatment schemes.

Reedbeds also play an important role in conservation providing specialised habitats for a number of birds including the bearded tit, marsh harrier, and the elusive bittern.

We presently produce over 10,000 Phragmites plugs and plants each year and have supplied local conservation projects and quarry companies who are creating reedbeds as part of their restoration programme after quarrying has been completed.

We have Phragmites available in 1 litre pots, 400cc plugs and 175cc plugs.

Prices depend on quantities ordered. Please download our current price list here Phragmites_Prices_2010.doc
