Mires Beck Nursery has entered the Rural Business Awards - Northern territory Charity category. We have entered to raise awareness of the vital work the nursery is doing in our rural community for the betterment of people and its efforts to engage in green action initiatives to enhance the rural landscape. The award shortlisting helps us to proclaim our specialist knowledge both as a producer and a social therapeutic horticultural charity. Our wonderful nursery is home to a community committed to our charitable aims and we are constantly working to be more sustainable and develop new business to grow reserve for expansion of our objectives.

Each year we grow 150,000 cell grown trees, providing stocks for new woodland and forestry funded projects. This has all contributed towards an eco-friendlier community, while reducing carbon dioxide levels in our region.

Our wildflowers production has been a respected source of Yorkshire provenance seed for over 30 years, and we continue to support large scale conservation and land habitation projects.

We have helped North Cave Wetlands expand their habitat for birds by providing them with their Phragmites planting through a long-term association. This has provided habitat for many wetland and freshwater species, while also providing food source, creating a food chain and a great eco-system.

Our service users help to grow over 30,000 perennial plants each year which are sold throughout Yorkshire and at our retail area at the nursery. We support over 30 commercial land private landscapers taking our plants to large scale public gardens and private garden designs. We have entered many shows winning awards each time for the quality of our plants. We have this month been accredited a Garden of Sanctuary Award for the wonderful garden that has been designed by our Head Gardner Alice and we now have a tranquil place for sanctuary seeking people to enjoy at the nursery,

We are honoured to say that we have been shortlisted as a regional finalist in the North Best Rural Social Enterprise, Charity or Community Project Category at the 2021/22 Rural Business Awards. We are working towards our final submission for judging and hope that we will succeed!

Please donate to us so that we can keep providing our trees, wildflowers and phragmites to rural businesses to help the different communities.
