Meet Anna
Hi everyone! I am the HR Assistant Apprentice of Mires Beck Nursery, which includes being the support staff, recruitment process adminster, providing new starter processes for staff and volunteers (including reference checks, DBS checks, confirmation of Right to Work in the UK), setting up the new School Pod database, and provide administration support for the Staff and Volunteer Induction process.
I have previously studied Business and have done a Business and Management degree, as this is something I have always been interested in. Before this job, I didn't know which area of business I wanted to go into, but so far I am greatly enjoying being in HR!
This job is helping my future by enabling me to further my skills and progress into the industry I want to work.
After achieving a Level 3 Diploma in Business at Hull College, I took a gap year to do work experience. I then decided to do my Business and Management degree, and after I achieved my degree I decided to look for an apprenticeship opportunity to gain on-the-job experience, and luckily I came across my current apprenticeship - Customer Service Level 3.
My past experiences have included working in many different jobs while I have been studying (such as hospitality work, caring roles and retail).
Fun Facts:
I enjoy cooking and baking (especially trying out gluten-free recipes) - a recent success was a gluten-free chocolate brownie covered in sprinkles
I love travelling (before COVID-19) and visiting new places (such as walking around new towns, sightseeing, and trying out different restaurants and food)
I have previously worked in a coffee shop where I made creative designs on coffees
The reason I love working at Mires Beck Nursery is because I enjoy looking around Garden Centres and watching plants grow, especially in the Spring time when they are colourful! During the first lockdown I grew some of my own fruit and vegetables.
I was unsure which area of Business I wanted to go into, however I am enjoying the HR area and I think this is something I will continue in the future!
