Butterfly Education and Awareness Day at Mires Beck

Buttefly Education and Awareness Day is an annual event from the Association for Butterflies, to raise the awareness of butterfly conservation, and the reasons they are so important to our eco-system.

You can create habitats for butterflies by planting wildflowers, plant nectar-rich flowers, and plant these flowers/put rocks or stones in the sun.

Did you know that butterflies flap their wings 5 times a second!
At Mires Beck Nursery, we grow over 150 varieties of wildflowers, which we produce for many conservation organisations, and therefore spread wonderful habitats for butterflies in the UK. We are the partner with Hull Butterfly City for the Alder Buckthorn Trees being planted to encourage the Brimstone Butterfly a species in decline in our area.

Please download the Garden Butterfly ID Guide below, or collect one at our retail area, to survey the butterflies in your garden or local greenspace! To submit your findings, go to the Garden Butterfly Survey website where you will need to create your account to submit your survey results.

To help us expand our site and equipment to create more wildflowers for our beautiful butterflies, please donate to our charity.

Garden Butterfly Survey

All projects require fundraising and we are always looking for new sponsors and volunteers to help us realise the future aspirations to maintain the charity and help it to thrive. If you would like to help please contact us.
