International Day of Friendship at Mires Beck

International Day of Friendship is a chance to honour friendship, and to do something special for/with your friends.

The day was first invented in 1958 by the World Friendship Crusade, which is an international organisation that campaigns about the culture of peace in friendship. In 2011, the General Assembly of United Nations declared the 30th July as the International Day of Friendship.

Due to social media and an increase in activities in local communities, there has been an increase of International Day of Friendship.
At Mires Beck Nursery, we have so many friendships amongst our service users, volunteers and staff members, as all of our community work brings us together. Everyone helps each other out, and each individual is working on one thing, big or small, that contributes towards the other members of their team or other teams. In the end result, it all contributes to huge things in our nursery, such as our plant prep teams all doing small tasks, which leads to a great number of plants at our retail area for you to buy!
Our social horticultural therapy at Mires Beck Nursery gives the service users the opportunity to make friends in a safeguarded environment, where they are understood by other service users who have similar conditions to each other.

You could become our friend by joining our Friends of Mires Beck for £15 a year, and with that £15 you will be helping to provide funds for extra resources for our service users! With this honour, you also get a generous discount of 15% off on most plants at the nursery!
Penny, our leader of the Friends, says, "by becoming a Friend at Mires Beck, you will be supporting an amazing charity that gives people with a learning disability skills, purpose, dignity, and friendship".

Please become a Friend of Mires Beck Nursery, and do your bit to help us provide more resources for our service users for them to learn so much more.
All projects require fundraising and we are always looking for new sponsors and volunteers to help us realise the future aspirations to maintain the charity and help it to thrive. If you would like to help please contact us.
