Mental Health Awareness Week at Mires Beck

Mental Health Week gives us a chance to speak up about mental health, and to try to help those struggling.

The theme this year for Mental Health Week is nature, as a lot of people struggling with mental health have realised during this pandemic that nature is a great way to improve your mental wellbeing.
At Mires Beck Nursery, we try our best to support our service users struggling with anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues. In our 14 acres of tranquil green space, we are able to use all of our 5 senses to experience nature and focus on beautiful things to help us relax and think about new life all around us.

From Monday to Friday this week, our service users and staff members will be taking part in activities that relate to the 4 topics, which are: Connect, Be Active, Take Notice and Keep Learning.

You can celebrate this week too by taking part in the 5th topic which is Give. Please donate to help us provide more support to those with mental health issues.

Mental Health Week Activities

Tree Team - Bee Active:
Danny and Nicky did a wonderful job of finding all the pictures of bees around the nursery.

We decided to do this challenge so the bubbles can go for a walk around the nursery and be active.
Take Notice - Anniversary Garden
The Anniversary Garden watched the video on different trees and different birds which we can see and hear at Mires Beck.

On their afternoon walk around the wood they were listening to different birds which we have in our 4 acre wood.
Estate Team - Keep Learning
Steve and his team have leant about life cycles and food chains.
Emma spotted a dead rabbit in the hedge at Mires Beck, and Steve spoke to his team to decide what they would like to do with the animal. They could either bury it, or put it somewhere else for other animals to eat it.
They decided to let the other animals eat it as it is part of the food chain.
Nathan learnt that a rabbit's average lifespan is 9 years.
Herb Team - Connect
Paul told some funny jokes to interact with everyone, and to make sure everyone around him was having fun!

At Mires Beck we value team work and getting the trainees to ‘connect’ and interact with each other.
All projects require fundraising and we are always looking for new sponsors and volunteers to help us realise the future aspirations to maintain the charity and help it to thrive. If you would like to help please contact us.
