World Environment Day at Mires Beck

World Environment Day encourages all of us to take action to restore our planet. This year, Sweden are running this campaign with the slogan "Only One Earth", and their focus is "Living Sustainably in Harmony with Nature".

You can join them in celebrating World Environment Day by going to: https://www.worldenvironmentday.global/
At Mires Beck Nursery, we are helping to aid this target by working with large funding and planting organisations for trees to help restore and cleanse our planet, and this year have produced 350,000 cell grown trees which we will be planting this winter through spring. These trees will all contribute to the Government's Environment Plan. We also sell fruit and vegetable plants for people to grow fruit and vegetables in their own gardens which all helps shopping miles reduction, and therefore reduces the amount of carbon dioxide being released into the atmosphere.

We also grow nearly 400 species of perennials, 100 species of wildflowers (including phragmites), 28 species of cell-grown trees and up to 100 species of herbs. The flowers that grow on these plants and trees all attract the bees and butterflies, and the berries that grow later on in the seasons are a great food source for a huge variety of birds. As well as being an incredibly important food source for pollinators, birds and butterflies, our trees also help reduce carbon dioxide.

Our Phragmites are used to create structure to help limit soil erosion in waterside projects and they create structure and habitat for bird life.

To help restore the planet, buy our plants and plant our trees for your garden/growing space!

Please also donate to our charity to help us produce more trees, perennials, wildflowers, herbs, and fruit and vegetables, to help restore our planet.
All projects require fundraising and we are always looking for new sponsors and volunteers to help us realise the future aspirations to maintain the charity and help it to thrive. If you would like to help please contact us.
