World Down Syndrome Day at Mires Beck

Down Syndrome is a condition when a child is born with an extra copy of a chromosome, which causes them to have mental and physical development delays and disabilities.

People with Down Syndrome will have some degree of learning disability, and some will be more independent than others (such as getting a job)
At Mires Beck Nursery, we have contributed to the #LotsOfSocks campaign by wearing odd, funny, bright and colourful socks.

We greatly miss our service users, some of which have Down Syndrome. It is as if they are the missing chromosome of our nursery. So to show how much we miss them, we have put lots of colourful windmills in a new garden we are planting for this summer and a bright and multi-coloured bunting at the sales hut.

To show your support, you can wear brightly coloured, mis-matched socks, taking pictures and videos, and post them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram using the hashtags #WorldDownSyndromeDay and #LotsOfSocks.

You can also donate to us on our Just Giving website (or go to our home page to find out more options) to help us be able to still support our service users with Down Syndrome.
All projects require fundraising and we are always looking for new sponsors and volunteers to help us realise the future aspirations to maintain the charity and help it to thrive. If you would like to help please contact us.
