Mother's Day at Mires Beck

Mother's Day is that one special day we provide our Mums the very best day we can give her, for taking care of us, being there for our ups and downs, and celebrating our greatest achievements with us.

This day is usually the 4th day of lent, and is traditionally a day where people visit the church where they were baptised, and where they honour their mother.

This has, however, become more commercialised, as it is now a day for children and adults to give their Mums chocolates, flowers, a card, and to do all of her chores!

This year, it is extremely important (for the obvious reasons of COVID-19) and more needed than ever, to let our Mothers know how much they are loved. You may not have seen her for ages, or may still not be able to see her because of travelling restrictions. You may still live with her in which case you are lucky enough to be able to give her the special day she deserves, so definitely take advantage of that!
For Mother's Day this year, Mires Beck Nursery are holding a competition to celebrate the strength of all Mums, where we are inviting you to send us a 4 line verse as to why your Mum loves her plants. The winner will receive a border worth £100 featuring our Tulips, to represent strength and beauty.
(The deadline for this competition is Wednesday 10th March.) Please see our Facebook post to enter.
We are already open for the plant season so please come along to our lovely outside nursery and buy your Mither's Day gifts where we have a lovely range of beautiful plants especially for your Mum.
We would also really appreciate donations on our Just Giving website for us to be able to continue growing these amazing plants. Also, we need to expand and enhance our nursery for our service users/trainees to be able to come back sooner to help us for their wellbeing and safeguarded work experience.
All projects require fundraising and we are always looking for new sponsors and volunteers to help us realise the future aspirations to maintain the charity and help it to thrive. If you would like to help please contact us.
