Twelfth Night at Mires Beck

Twelfth Night (also known as Epiphany Eve) symbolises the last night of the Twelve Days of Christmas.

A popular Twelfth Night tradition was to have a bean and a pea hidden inside a Twelfth-night cake. The tradition was that the man who found the bean inside his slice of cake becomes King for the night, and if the woman found a pea in her slice of cake, she would become Queen for the night. People would then continue celebrating by singing Christmas carols and feasting.

A punch called "wassail" is consumed especially on Twelfth Night, which is a hot mulled cider. Ingredients to make wassail involves:
- Apple cider/apple juice
- 3 Gala Apples
- 1 large orange
- Cloves
- Nutmeg
- Ground ginger (or ginger spice)
- Vanilla pod (or vanilla extract)
- Cinnamon sticks
