Dignity Action Day at Mires Beck

Dignity Action Day is for health and social care workers, and the public to stand for people's rights of dignity, and hold a very special day for people who use care services.

This day aims to make sure people who use care services are given a choice, control and sense of purpose as individuals in their daily lives.

If you help support Dignity Action Day, you will raise awareness of the importance of Dignity in Care, demonstrate the importance of everyone's roles in the community, and remind members of the public that staff need to be treated with respect too.
At Mires Beck Nursery, we provide a safe environment for our service users, our staff and volunteers where we deliver horticultural work experience and green therapy. The service we provide improves people's overall wellbeing, aids their mental health and improves physical ability. It is an extremely social environment with all people working together as a community which also helps our service users' self-confidence.
Our staff help and care for our vulnerable adults to learn how to grow and nuture our plants, plant our trees, look after our grounds, bake delicious recipes in our kitchen, and many more things that help them feel equal to everyone learning these vital life skills. This springtime, our service users will be making bird houses/feeders, and will be bagging up bird seed for the public to take on our woodland walk.

Please donate to us using our Just Giving link to help us provide the safest tools and equipment for our service users to enable to get involved in such diverse work at the nursery. Many our service users/trainees haven't been able to come back on our site due to COVID-19, and their mental health is worsening. Our facility is being enhanced whilst they are absent and so that when they can return, they will see the nursery flourishing. All the work is aimed at enriching their experience here. Help us to maintain this wonderful place which is of benefit to such a diverse community of staff, volunteers and service users.
All projects require fundraising and we are always looking for new sponsors and volunteers to help us realise the future aspirations to maintain the charity and help it to thrive. If you would like to help please contact us.
