Our Mr Tinklin's Garden is full of delicious vegetables grown by Suzanne (our lead vegetable gardener), with Alice (our lead gardener), and their service users. The vegetables are harvested by the team, put in the shop to sell, and used for creating the dishes in our cafe! This has created a sustainable system that has contributed to benefitting the environment.
Our Perennial Team are a lovely bunch who pot up our plants, maintain them, and put them on the flower beds for customers to buy.
Our garden team maintain the borders, as well as general hedge and general garden maintenance of the site.
Our herb team have produced 50 varieties of herbs, that are all potted up, maintained, and put on the beds ready for customers to buy.
We have two tree teams: one in North Cave and one in Pocklington (Wilberfoss).
So far at our Pocklington Site, our team has grown 150,000 trees and 25,000 Phragmites, which will benefit Yorkshire conservation schemes!
Back at Mires Beck, our Tree Team have grown 125,000 cell-grown trees, which are rapidly filling the compound! Our team is now ready for the big sales season ahead in the Winter period.

We The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service
We were the first charity in East Yorkshire to be awarded the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service.
For the Queen's Jubilee next year, we will be celebrating 10 years of being a Queen's Award volunteering service!
Every year, an organisation gets awarded for the work of their fantastic volunteers through the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service (QAVS). QAVS are equivalent to an MBE, which is the highest awards given to voluntary groups, and they are deemed to be awarded for life.
To be awarded this amazing award, the voluntary service must be nominated by a member of the public with a good knowledge of the group's work, and be able to send two letters of support from two other people who also know the group very well.
For the public to nominate the voluntary service, the service:
Must be made of at least 3 people
Be based in the UK, Isle of Man or Channel Islands
Been in operation for 3 years or more
Have over half its volunteers eligible to live in the UK
Be led by volunteers
Provide a specific and direct benefit for their community

Interacting with trainees (option to either work by yourself or work with our service users)
If you are interested in helping out, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
To apply to be a permenant volunteer with Mires Beck Nursery, you will need to download our word document application form, fill it in and return it to us. However if you wish to help out only occasionally at weekends and events, or in answer to a Facebook call for help, we can accept volunteer support when our service users are not present without having to apply to work alongside them. Volunteering & Event Support
We are always in need of volunteers. We require a range of skills not limited to the following:
Help to support staff looking after our service users

Nelp with plant 'pricking out days'
Help to make wood craft for retail
Help to maintain boundaries and gardens
Help our carpentry team to build structures around the nursery to serve the operations
Our events schedule is planned each autumn for the following year. We often require people to help us with set up and facilitating. These are volunteer one day requests rather than regular volunteering and can offer vital work experience with a charity. Please watch this page for opportunities to get involved.
