We The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service

We were the first charity in East Yorkshire to be awarded the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service.

For the Queen's Jubilee next year, we will be celebrating 10 years of being a Queen's Award volunteering service!

Every year, an organisation gets awarded for the work of their fantastic volunteers through the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service (QAVS). QAVS are equivalent to an MBE, which is the highest awards given to voluntary groups, and they are deemed to be awarded for life.

To be awarded this amazing award, the voluntary service must be nominated by a member of the public with a good knowledge of the group's work, and be able to send two letters of support from two other people who also know the group very well.

For the public to nominate the voluntary service, the service:
Must be made of at least 3 people
Be based in the UK, Isle of Man or Channel Islands
Been in operation for 3 years or more
Have over half its volunteers eligible to live in the UK
Be led by volunteers
Provide a specific and direct benefit for their community
